Conditions

Spine Therapy

Whether the result of an accident, other injury, surgery or a chronic condition, neck pain can be debilitating. At Directions, we’ll run a comprehensive evaluation of your problem, then design a neck treatment program that addresses your specific needs. Often times, that program will include posture work, manual and massage therapy, joint mobilization and strengthening exercises. For sports enthusiasts, we’ll also create a preventive neck regimen to deter injury recurrence.

Leg Therapy

Leg problems can refer to any number of conditions, including injury, chronic pain of the knees, thighs, calves or shins, recent joint replacement and Achilles tendon or hamstring issues. Whatever the cause, our leg therapy program is dedicated to restoring function, mobility and range of motion, but most importantly, getting you back on your feet again. Depending on your particular complaint, we’ll design a physical therapy plan that will likely include manual therapy, stretching and strengthening maneuvers as well as balance and gait training. Optimal leg performance can take time and focus to achieve. At Directions, we’ll be with you the entire way.

Upper Extremity/Arm Therapy

Our hand and elbow rehabilitation program covers treatment for all injuries involving the hands, wrists and elbows, including sprains, strains, tendon issues, arthritis, amputation and nerve problems. After performing an evaluation of the source and severity of your injury, we’ll create a personalized healing plan to address your specific needs. Throughout your therapy sessions, we’ll help you regain strength and range of motion with the essential goal of restoring daily usages. Once that’s completed, we’ll tailor a home exercise program for you in order to maintain and build your hand, wrist and elbow functionality.

Post-surgical Rehabilitation

To ensure a successful recovery, physical rehabilitation is critical following joint replacement surgeries. At Directions, we specialize in post-surgical therapy and will tailor a treatment plan best suited to address your specific surgical outcome and healing needs. Often, our recovery plans include: Manual therapy to mobilize joint and scar tissue Stretching and mobility exercises to return full range of motion Weight-bearing movements to restore a healthy gait Strengthening exercises to stabilize the repaired joint At Directions, we will optimally use our skills and knowledge to maximize your recovery to your daily living as well as the activities you love to perform!

Acid reflux

A chronic and widespread issue, acid reflux refers to a condition in which acidic gastric fluid is regurgitated into the esophagus, causing heartburn that can range from mild to severe. One problem commonly believed to cause acid reflux is an impairment of the diaphragm. Manual physical therapy, which we offer at Directions, has been shown to restore mobility of the respiratory diaphragm and improve rib cage movement. When this is achieved, the opening from the esophagus that allows food to pass is able to properly close, preventing acid from traveling back up.
